After 8 years working as a qualified site carpenter (a family profession), at the age of 25 I made the decision to take a risk and alter my career path; I am now re-training as a furniture designer-maker. In 2014 I was accepted onto the City & Guilds level 3 course at Rycotewood; from 2015-17 I then studied a Foundation Degree in Furniture Design and make. I am currently working as an apprentice at the Edward Barnsley Workshop.
My primary aim at Edward Barnsley us to gain experience of day-to-day life in a workshop. I feel incredibly privileged to be able to develop my skills as a craftsman at such a prestigious workshop. Along with my partner our ambition is to set up a furniture workshop that will incorporate my experience in the furniture industry with her skills as an engineer (having achieved a PhD in this field).
