After 8 years working as a qualified site carpenter (a family profession), at the age of 25 I made the decision to take a risk and alter my career path; I am now re-training as a furniture designer-maker. In 2014 I was accepted onto the City & Guilds level 3 course at Rycotewood; I am now studying towards the Foundation Degree and am thoroughly enjoying the challenges of the design process and the problem solving skills required in the making process. This website showcases the various pieces I have made and designed while at Rycotewood Furniture school.
On completion of the Rycotewood foundation degree I hope to gain experience working in an established furniture workshop; the aim is to improve my design and handcrafting skills as well as gain further understanding of the business model. Along with my partner our ambition is to set up a furniture workshop that will incorporate my experience in the furniture industry with her skills as an engineer (having achieved a PHD in this field).
